Demos

Demonstrations provide researchers and practitioners with an exciting and interactive opportunity to present their systems, artifacts and/or research prototypes, either at a regular session or at the technical exhibition. In any case, it is required to avoid a commercial format, even if the demo consists of presenting a business product or service. Instead, the presentation should focus on technical aspects.
Any written support materials may be distributed locally but not published in the proceedings. Authors who already present a paper at the conference may apply for a demonstration, to complement but not to replace their paper presentation. Demonstrations can also be made by sponsor companies or as a mixed initiative involving researchers and industrial partners.
Demonstrations are based on an informal setting that encourages presenters and participants to engage in discussions about the presented work. This is an opportunity for the participants to disseminate practical results of their research and to network with other applied researchers or business partners.

Concerning the format of the demo, we can accommodate it either as a demonstration in a booth (physical area of 4 sq. meter, with a table and 2 chairs) at the exhibition area, as a poster or as a 20 min oral presentation at a session especially set up for demonstrations. It is also possible to organize the presentation of the same demo in more than one format. Please contact the event secretariat.

Brief Bio
My experience in the Media Team at the FIFA World Cup 2010 has shown me how high performance sports and medias work together. This supplemented 9 years of studies in Multimedia, Interactive Medias and Information Technologies. To wrap all this experience, my project "Socialize the Performance" was launched as an attempt to incentivize the use of Technologies in Soccer. Alongside, my MSc Management of IT was also intended to implement technologies to the training of youth soccer players. Since then, my involvement in soccer was redirected to study decision-making, tactics, cognition, training and psychopedagogy. This new focus brought me to study in Brazil and Portugal, in addition to key institutions in my country. Combining studies and travelling allowed me to study football and its development in up to 6 languages. I look forward to apply these learnings to high performance soccer and player development in a near future.
The Effort Perception System is a multi-platform application that intends to facilitate the collection of perception scales. The Perceived Exertion Scale was scientifically validated to monitor the perception of effort after exercise. In the context of high performance sports, this data is expected to help coaches to plan training sessions, adjust recovery time and prevent lesions through a competitive period. We develop a simplistic front-end that
prompts players’ perception scales thanks to a personal account. The results are compiled in a single table for the coaches to simplify the monitoring. The idea is to link Web 2.0 to the Effort Perception Index approach of Sport Sciences and create specific, convenient communication channel between the members of a team.
