Reaching the City

From Vienna International Airport (Airport code: VIE)

The Vienna international Airport is located 16km east of the city. All major European Airlines fly to Vienna. From here you can get to the city center by either public transportation or taxi.

Train:

City Airport Train (CAT): The CAT will take you from the airport to the city center in a 16 minutes journey and will stop at Wien Mitte/Landstraße. From this station you have access to subway lines U3 and U4. For more information please check the CAT website.

Express train S7: The S7 leaves every 30 minutes and will take you from the airport to the city in 25 minutes, stopping at Wien Mitte/Landstraße. From this station you have access to subway lines U3 and U4. The journey also has other stops along the way, such as Kaiserebersdorf, Zentralfriedhof S-Bahn, Geiselbergstraße, St.Marx, Rennweg, Praterstern, Traisengasse, Handelskai, Floridsdorf. Bus: The Vienna Airport Lines' three bus routes serve Vienna’s underground railway lines and also Vienna West (Westbahnhof) and Vienna Meidling (Wien Meidling) railway stations. The buses to the city center (Morzinplatz/ Schwedenplatz) run 24 hours a day in a journey that takes around 20 minutes. From this station you have access to subway lines U1 and U4.

    • VAL1: 
      Vienna Airport – Vienna Main Station (South, connection to U1) – Vienna Westbahnhof Station (Europaplatz/connection to U3, U6) in 40 minutes
      from 6.00 am to 12.30 am every 30 minutes
      Vienna Westbahnhof Station (Europaplatz) – Vienna Main Station (South) - Vienna Airport in 40 minutes
      Early departure at 4.30 am from Westbahnhof; from 5.30 am to 12.30 am every 30 minutes
    • VAL 2: 
      Vienna Airport – Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz (connection to U1, U4) in 22 minutes at 1.15 am, 2.45 am, 4.45 am, from 4.45 am to 1.15 am every 30 minutes
      Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz – Vienna Airport in 20 minutes
      at 0.30 am, 2.00 am, 4.00 am, from 4.00 am to 11.30 pm every 30 minutes
    • VAL3: 
      Vienna Airport – Donauzentrum (connection to U1) in 39 minutes
      from 6.00 am - 9.00 pm every hour
      Donauzentrum – Vienna Airport in 42 minutes
      from 4.58 am to 7.58 pm every hour

Taxis: Taxis are available outside the airport in front of the arrivals halls. The journey will take around 25 minutes.

In order to book a ride, you can either call the respective company, visit the website or use the phone app (free in the iTunes Store and in the Google Play Store.

From Bratislava Airport (Airport code: BTS)

Bratislava Airport is located 75 km away from the center of Vienna. From here, you can get to Vienna by train or bus:

Train: In order to get from Bratislava Airport to the central railway station (Hlavná vlaková stanica) you have to take the bus no. 61 (journey time of 25 minutes) or use the Airport’s partner taxi services located in front of the arrivals terminals B and C. After arriving at Bratislava railway station you can catch the train to Vienna Meidling Station (Wien Meidling). The journey will take around 60 to 90 minutes depending on the type of train. BusThe ÖBB PostBus operates bus connections from Bratislava Airport via Vienna International Airport to Vienna bus terminal (Südtiroler Platz), where you have access to the subway line U1. The journey takes around 1h50m to 2 hours depending on the traffic. For more information please check the Postbus website.
Alternatively, FlixBus has a route connecting Bratislava city center to Vienna, so you can find out more and/or buy your tickets at the FlixBus website.
